Silhouette boxes of paper mache. Each box is hand-painted and hand finished, by artist Barb Kauffman. Done in historic, colonial colors that fit into any decor. Hanway Mill House is located in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
Inspired by the love of old houses and the colonial life , each box goes thru seven steps of painting, design, distress and antiquing. I love to make new things look old and worn. Each box is painted black inside, signed and dated. Every box is always a little different in size or shape or shading. I use various parts of many stencils added with hand painting to create unique and different themes.
Smaller boxes arrive nicely packaged in a cello bag with a tie. My boxes can be used to hold jewelry, wedding or holiday favors , keepsakes, letters, desks, gift cards, candy , trinkets , in baths, bedroom or hide things on the kitchen counter !
My boxes have been featured in : Country Home 2007, Country House Catalog , The Country Sampler, September 2008 and Romantic Homes , Fall 2008 ( special edition for Beds and Baths ) and Irvin’s Country Tinware Catalog 2009-2010 and hopefully featured in your home as well !!
