The whale is one of those animals which, when seen, just makes you stop whatever you are doing to watch it. They are so large that the defy your imagination at any time but, if you are ever blessed enough to get to see one breech (leap completely out of the water into the air) it is an experience you will never forget. It is a wonderful display of God's power.

This is my first carving of this type or with this type of material. It is carved from a recycled piece of laminated poplar which began life as a roof beam in a new home. I carved it in a stylized manner, which means it was never intended to look like a realistic whale. I left numerous carving tool marks just because i liked the way it looked that way. The carving was finished with a white-wash stain then three coats of clear poly were added for protection. The overall carving is about eleven inches long, five inches tall, and five inches wide. This truley is a one of a kind piece and will be a great discussion starter when guests see it in your home. All of my carvings are signed and dated.
