Clean simple design belies the rock solid construction, allowing the natural beauty of this American hardwood to take center stage.
Each piece is hand selected by myself or another craftsman in our shop (probably Robert), to bring out as much of the woods color and grain as possible. Each block is unique, appearance varies widely. Many believe this is the most beautiful US domestic hardwood. This is my personal opinion as well. The color variations in a single piece range from white to deep purple, red, orange, brown and even green. It very often has a distinctive flame coloration and pattern.
Mortise and tenon joints. Heavy-duty construction.
Comes fully assembled. Finished with hand-rubbed oil and beeswax. Maintain with same.
Meant for an actual working block.
Two by three foot size is perfect for medium to larger kitchens, and provides six square feet of premium butcher block space and six square feet of storage underneath.
Contact me at time of order if you'd like casters. We can choose them together for your application (i.e. commercial kitchen), to ensure proper final height and function.
I can build this same island with walnut/maple/sycamore/pecan/cherry, including contrasting block patterns, as you desire. Contact me for custom requests.
