Will the copper turn my finger green?

Possibly! The greenish tinge some people find develops when they wear copper jewellery is completely harmless and can easily be washed off. It isn't an allergic reaction or a sign of poor quality materials but a natural occurrence between the copper and PH of the wearer's skin. Most pieces from Stjarna are left unsealed but if you would prefer a clear sealant applied to minimise contact between the copper and your skin I'd be happy to help.

I'm not sure of my size. Can a ring be altered if it doesn't fit?

Due to the nature of electroforming rings can't be resized once made, so please be certain of your size before ordering to avoid disappointment. Any highstreet jeweller will be able to give you an accurate measurement, usually free of charge.

Do you make rings in solid gold/silver?

The short answer is no. All pieces from Stjarna are made from copper using a technique called electroforming. I don't make anything out of solid gold or silver, although some pieces feature sterling silver components (e.g. ear wires or chains). Any silver rings feature a solid copper core and are then plated in a thick layer of .999 fine silver.

About this item

A beautiful single raw ruby set on a hand-hammered 1.3mm square copper band. This dainty piece looks lovely on its own or can be stacked with any of our other crystal rings, including the matching three and five-stone versions – the options for styling are endless!

Your ring will be made to order using a technique called electroforming, where copper is slowly and organically grown onto a copper base to thicken it and create one-of-a-kind settings for crystals and stones. Due to the wonderfully unpredictable nature of electroforming, no two creations are ever exactly the same: there is often some perfectly imperfect texture to the metal but the resulting piece is always uniquely beautiful, just like the person wearing it.

Copper jewellery can sometimes leave a dark or greenish mark on the skin. If this happens, don't worry! It's harmless and can easily be washed off with soap and water. Alternatively, please feel free to contact me if you'd like me to apply a clear sealant to the ring.

• This listing is for one single-stone raw ruby ring.
• Electroformed using pure copper and a natural, untreated stone.
• Band measures approximately 1.3mm.
• There will be some slight variation from the picture in the size and shape of the stone used but the result will still be gorgeous!
• All copper pieces by Stjärna are left unsealed unless otherwise requested. It's normal for copper to darken over time but the shine can be renewed by polishing your jewellery with a soft cloth.
