"Persephone" is a one-of-a-kind, hand-carved jewelry pendant by gemstone artisan Jack Williamson for GhostHorseGifts. The stone is gold sheen obsidian, and the wire-wrap is 14kt gold-fill wire. Williamson cuts, carves, and polishes the stone carefully before wrapping it with delicate wire.

This feminine portrait is named "Persephone" after the goddess of the Underworld from Greek mythology. Gold sheen obsidian is a variation of obsidian, a hard volcanic stone formed from lava. The metaphysical properties of gold sheen obsidian include balancing the Third Chakra which is related to the solar plexus or the ego center. Sheen obsidian is also associated with scrying or seeing into the past and future by observing shimmering, reflective surfaces such as mirrors or wells.

Most of the cabochons are standard jewelry sizes, such as 40 x 30mm or 25 X 18mm, for easy finishing. We work with Sterling Silver prong mounts and Sterling Silver or 14kt gold-fill wire. The pendant ovals are made of rock crystal genuine quartz, so tiny inclusions in the stones are normal. Many of the individual pieces are irregular in shape, or free-form. These make excellent wire wrapping components.
