~Another gorgeous Artists smock~ Fabulous medium to heavy weight, antique French smock! This gorgeous smock is made of a medium weight cotton. There may be a very small amount of linen in the weave, however the cotton content is much higher. This textile dates c1910 Any art lover will recognize these textiles from many 19th century French paintings. Hand and machine stitched. Saturated indigo with some of the original glazing! The gathers up around the neck are just gorgeous. There is a button at the top of the opening. ! Lovely tiny tiny gathers.~ These textiles were worn to protect the clothing of a man and were saved for special occasions and festivals! you will see them in 19th and 18th century French paintings !! ~*~ Gorgeous for wearing or display! ~ These wear with such style! I love them belted with boots and jeans or leggings ~ I've sold them for many years, they are one of my favorite textiles ~ this is a very roomy textile! ~ comfy and beautiful ~

CONDITION: This smock is in as found, not freshly laundered condition ~ This textile is in lovely condition. The seam at the sleeves has come unstitched and can be stitched back together! Generally it's in gorgeous condition with only light signs of time and use often inherent in these wonderful antique textiles! ~
