Seller's description

Specifications

May include: A long, rectangular, brass-colored box with a smaller, square, brass-colored box attached to one end. The box is made of metal and has a smooth, polished finish.

An antique to vintage brass portable scribe inkwell and pen case. From the research I've done, these are also referred to as qalamadan or divit. Unlike others I've seen online, this one isn't ornate. The pen case and inkwell portions are without etching. The pen case is the long portion with one open end. The inkwell receptacle is mounted on the side and has a clamshell-style lid. There are 2 different stamps, possibly noting a maker, on each side of the pen case. I wasn't able to identify either of these marks via research. Please see photo 10 for a close up collage. A lovely piece for display!

This is in very good vintage condition, considering its age. The main issue I see is the 'door' that would open and close to allow access to the pen case is missing. It's on one end. The opposite end has a permanent, non removable cap. Please see photo 6 for a close up. There is a nice amount of patina overall. A few dents can be seen on the long pen case. Please see all photos for confirmation of condition.

Measures: 8 1/2" long x 2" wide (including inkwell)
