🌱PLEASE READ: This embroidery thread is hand dyed with plant materials. As a result of the natural dye process, there are variations in color and areas of uneven dye. Plant dyes differ significantly from synthetic/chemical dyes. No two skeins will be identical. Natural dye lots are 100% unique each time - this is what makes plant-dyed thread so special!

Botanically dyed threads are one of a kind and great for a variety of projects: slow stitch, collage, embroidery and whatever else floats your creative boat!

❌TREE NUT ALLERGY NOTICE: Plant dyed items may be dyed with black walnut hulls. Although some items are dyed with other plant materials, they are dyed using shared equipment.

DYE PROCESS AND AFTERCARE: Dyeing with natural materials is a slow and rewarding process. Each dye batch takes several days to complete. These threads are properly scoured and mordanted before dyeing. Mordanting is a process that helps dyes bind to the thread and improves the lightfastness. All threads are washed by hand and air dried. I rinse and wash to remove excess dye; however, potential bleeding may occur. I recommend Seventh Generation Free and Clear plant-based soap as botanical dyes are pH sensitive and may shift color. Minimize fading and discoloration by keeping out of direct sunlight and hand washing only when necessary.

I happily grow and gather the materials I use for dyeing. Non-natives as ethically sourced. Some materials I use for dyeing include: goldenrod, acorns, weld, indigo, cutch, oak galls, brazilwood, madder root, rhubarb, pomegranate, logwood, staghorn sumac, marigold, coreopsis, rudbeckia, cosmos, yarrow, osage orange, black walnut, Smurfs and more!
