I made this coffee mug on the potter's wheel in my Kansas studio. After I applied 4 to 6 coats of black slip with a hake brush, I carefully scraped away the slip to make a mushroom design on the sides. After the mug had been fired once, I glazed the inside and top edge in dark green glaze and covered the black and white area with a shiny clear glaze. I then fired the mug in oxidation to about 2100 degrees Fahrenheit. I added mother of pearl luster to the lower part of the mug and fired a third time.

This mug will hold 18 oz. of your favorite beverage. It is 3 inches (7.62 cm) tall and 4.5 inches (11.43 cm) in diameter.
