We invented the BiteyBox to solve the problem of our cat Luki always chewing our dishwasher prongs, electrical cords, and anything else he desired! We tried all types of chew toys and catnip matatabi sticks, but he would always choose to be naughty, until now! He prefers his BiteyBox over anything else, and his chewy cravings are finally resolved. We think of Luki’s BiteyBox as an “insurance policy” for him (and our furniture!) As long as he’s happily chomping his sticks, he’s NOT biting electric cords or furniture legs!!
Each box is handmade in Wilmington NC. No paint, glues or stains are used. The all natural oak and poplar sticks are removable and replaceable, can be packed up for travel, and extras can be purchased in our shop. The holes are also able to hold smaller diameter silver vine and matatabi sticks, if your cat prefers to munch on those! My son and I take great pride and gratitude in seeing all the cats chomping on their BiteyBoxes, we build them one at a time and put a lot of love into each unique construction.

The oak and poplar sticks should be replaced once both ends are sufficiently worn. For Luki, we flip the sticks over for fresh ends about every 2 months and replace them as needed. Some cats are more aggressive with their chewing so for them we recommend buying all oak sticks (which are harder) Luki prefers the softer poplar, he seems to enjoy the crunch!

Bitey Box FAQ:
-How long do the sticks last?
Answer: Most of our regular customers order a mixed pack of sticks every 2 months or so. Some buy all oak after the first trial run, a few prefer only poplar which gets chomped up sooner. It depends on how many kitties you have and how aggressively they chew. Hopefully your kitty (like ours) will get satisfaction from giving it a few chomping sessions each day and the sticks will hold up longer! We had one customer whose 2 cats were obsessed, constantly gnawing the sticks until they were completely shredded within a week. Now she buys an oak pack of sticks every couple of months and it seems to be working out.
-Do the sticks fall out?
Answer: The sticks are “friction fit” meaning they will not be easily pulled out by kitty with the box “right side up”. The holes are drilled very slightly larger than the diameter of the sticks. This allows for ease of assembly but difficult for kitty to pull out. The sticks might swell up if used outdoors in high humidity, making them nearly impossible to remove! If this happens, bring your Bitey Box inside for awhile and let it dry out. I recommend only using the Bitey Box INDOORS, as the wood is not treated in any way and will not hold up to weather.
-Is there a correct way to set up the Bitey Box?
Answer: YES!! Set your Bitey Box right-side-up, meaning the label should be legible and the top surface should be flat as shown in the listing. Putting it upside down gives the sticks less depth and less stability. We build these with the best side of the wood facing up and out, it kinda drives us bananas to see them upside down - but HEY! To each their own 😽😻 We just think it looks better and is better functioning right side up, but some kitties like to use it upside down as a treat or toy box. All good! 😊
•Why won’t my cat bite the sticks?
Answer: Not every cat is the same. Most cats take right to it. If your cat IS a habitual chewer of cords, window sills, cardboard, etc… There is a very strong chance he will eventually start chewing the sticks. Try using something on the box and sticks to entice your kitty, such as salmon oil or catnip, whatever gets them interested. You could also try silvervine or matatabi sticks in the holes. We do this with Luki once in awhile, but the oils in those catnip sticks make him go bonkers for a bit. The Bitey Box is NOT a toy, please don’t buy it as a plaything. Its intended design is to provide a safer outlet for their chewing needs, not to develop a bad habit. Use the Bitey Box as a teaching tool, move your cat to it when she is trying to sneak a chomp on your cables. Also, discourage “Bad Biting” by using bitter tasting repellent on their favorite cords etc. Put it in a place where she regularly chews things at first, this will help integrate the Bitey Box into her lifestyle!
-I see similar products online with bad reviews, are these yours?
Answer: Absolutely not. I only sell on Etsy and have applied for a patent on our unique invention. Do not trust these knock-offs. I own the Bitey Box name and imposters will be buried in the litter box. (figuratively speaking 😹)
-Do you accept returns?
Answer: Sure!! Please give it a fair shot for 30 days, and if none of the above advice works for your chewy puffball, I’ll give you a full refund once you send it back! 😄👍
