These ceramic clay beads are beautifully textured and exquisitely detailed three dimensional designs handcrafted in the United States with the same method as traditional Mali clay beads and designed to resemble chevron African glass trade beads.

They are absolutely stunning and 100% environmentally friendly as they were crafted only by hand, stick and kiln using natural and recycled products, the exact way they originally were designed hundred of years ago when beads were used as currency and as trade in Africa.

Each terra cotta clay bead is a rounded bicone shape that is formed by hand before carved and then kiln fired, a process that hardens the beads by heat (also called ceramic). When cooled, they are painted black and white to add a little contrast and expose the tribal carvings.
