This is a large picnic basket from Longaberger. The wooden lid is attached by leather hinges and features there is a wooden/leather loop latch. It has a natural finish, has a lighter finish that fits in anywhere. There are two swinging handles. It is dated 1999. The plastic protector, fabric liner and wooden riser are included. The riser allows you to pack some items on the bottom without crushing them.
This basket would be great for a picnic or a great basket to use for snacks on a road trip. This would be a really great gift!
The basket is signed by the weaver and dated on the bottom (see photos).
CONDITION: Very good vintage condition. There are no signs of damage. Very clean and ready to use. There is an area where the basket looks like it may have minor paint splatter on the handle and a few smudges on the lid and basket, but these are very minimal ..... so should not distract from your enjoyment.. The accessories are also all in very good/excellent condition. Please review all photos as they are part of the description.
APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS: Almost 11 inches tall, 16 inches wide and 13 inches deep. Shipping weight is about 5.5 lbs plus packaging.
LONGABERGER BASKETS were hand woven between 1919 - 2018 by highly skilled crafts people and then the company went out of business for a bit. They are now an online only business. These baskets are beautiful and can be collected and/or used as functional additions to your home décor.
The natural beauty of these baskets makes them very versatile and a nice accent to most decors; however, they are also easily painted or re-stained if you prefer a certain color!
