"Towers of NoHo" * Here we have a fine little portrait of a gathering of water towers on the rooftops above NoHo in New York City. They are one of my favorite symbols of the city, and can be seen near and far from almost any rooftop— the silent sentinels high above the busy sidewalks.

This plate uses a technique called 'aquatint' to achieve its range of grey tones. it involves applying a super fine dusting of powdered rosin onto the plate, then melting it to form a sort of speckled layer of resist. By applying acid at varying time intervals, you get all shades of gray; it's rather like developing a photograph, really.

You will receive a print from a limited edition, signed, numbered, and dated by me.

There are subtle shifts in tonality from one to another, due to the process of being hand-inked, hand-wiped, and hand-rolled through the press. So, it will look very much like the pictures, but not exactly. It is not a digital print. It will ship flat with cardboard backing, in a cellophane sleeve.

These are printed on BFK Rives Printmaking Paper, White, 250 gsm
The ink used was a mixture of vine black and burnt umber, so it's a soft black color.
The IMAGE area is 2" x 4.5"
The PAPER size is 8"x8"

I recommend having the print matted closely around the image when it's framed— and feel free to trim the paper if needed to fit in a specific frame! I do it all the time.
