Available in a 4-ounce glass bottle with cap or sprayer. The exact historical recipe from 1887 was followed and aged 6 months. This Bay Rum is a wonderful dance of spicy, woodsy, and sweet. A lot goes into this recipe to make it such a complex yet traditional loved Bay Rum scent. Handmade with fresh lemon, orange, and lime peel, whole cloves, whole bay leaf, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns, Jamaican rum, cracked allspice berries, and whole vanilla beans to name a few. The wait was worth it. Jamaican rum is used to slowly release the oils in the bay leaves then we add a bundle of fresh fruit peels, whole herbs and spices then let time do its magic.
The history of bay rum began with some overly stinky sailors and the discovery that a ship full could smell a whole lot better after rubbing the bay leaf onto their skin. It became a high seas deodorant of sorts. With the help of the sailor's go-to drink, rum, the oils of the bay leaf could now be extracted easily. Throughout history it became "in vogue" being a popular drink during prohibition due to its alcohol content. To this day families from the West Indies still guard their family recipes. Bay rum oils help to stimulate hair growth, prevent dandruff in beards and destress and calm skin. Bay leaf oil also has natural antifungal and antibacterial properties. The scent is uplifting, bright and happy.

About us:
A family farm since 1999, Second Chance Farm Sanctuary is the Leclerc homestead located in Ashby, Ma. Sustainable and chemical-free practices are used including rotational grazing, herbal worming, vermiculture and natural composting - we would simply have it no other way.
Mother Nature knows best...
We believe in simple, nourishing ingredients. Many herbs are grown on the farm for use in our solar infusions along with honey, beeswax and pollen. Wild foraging in our woods yields witch hazel, mushrooms, peppermint, pine resin and many other nourishing treats.
All body products are developed and tested from the ground up. We do not purchase premade bases - this only takes away from the joy of creating... and knowing our product is indeed pure. All products are lovingly made in small batches. No synthetic fillers, sulfate, palm oil, propylene glycol and petroleum byproduct are used.
About our animals:
Some have come to us through farm rescues, others due to neglect, some through an owners death and some left on our doorstep.
We have loved deaf and blind sheep, a sweet hen found in a roadside trash bag, a pregnant, undernourished goat with mange and fed baby squirrels with a syringe.
Our animals are allowed to wander as they please. Regardless of how they became part of our farm, they live out their lives happy and healthy with endless hugs...
as it should be.
