This is a small vintage wooden chess set, made in Western Europe / France in the 1970's-1980's.
Chessmen are made of solid boxwood and crafted with very good detail in a classic Staunton pattern. Taller pieces have double collars. Knights are carved by hand of 2 pieces of wood. White side of the set is in natural color and coated with matted varnish. The other side is painted black. Varnish on the white side has developed nice golden color with the age. Pieces are not felted and weighted.
The set comes with its original storage box with sliding lid. The box is made of pine wood and not coated with varnish. The original label on the lid is still present. The set is suitable for playing on smaller chess boards with squares of around 4x4cm. Board on the pictures is NOT included.

Condition:
Chessmen are in very good condition. No visible chips and cracks. One Queen is slightly leaned/tilted from the age. Coating on both sides is well preserved, no visible marks and scratches. Varnish on the white side showing rich golden color. Storage box is in good condition, no chips and cracks. The original label is still present and could be found on the lid.
