A BELOVED TRADITION

For generations, decorating the palavelli with flowers, fruits and leaves has been a tradition and a family activity for many people of telugu heritage.
Parents and the children gather around the Palavelli decorating it on the morning of the festival while the aroma of the special food preparations from the kitchen is in the air.
Palavelli is symbolic representation of Milky way galaxy (paalapunta). The fruits and flowers we hang are representative of the planets with earth being represented by Velaga Kaya (Wood Apple).

HANDCRAFTED IN BRASS

They have been carefully crafted by experienced artisans who are in the process of making these for many decades.

HANGING INFORMATION

The Palavelli has a large circular metal attachment point at the top. Please use a secure metal ceiling or wall hook rated for the combined weight of the Palavelli and your decorations.

The Palavelli itself weighs approximately 2.6–3.5 lb, but fruits and other decorations can substantially increase the total weight. Mounting hardware is not included. Adhesive hooks are not recommended.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Brass naturally develops a darker patina over time. After the festival, remove any moisture or food residue and wipe the Palavelli with a clean, dry cloth before storing it in a dry place.

If you prefer a brighter finish, use a brass cleaner according to its directions and test it first on a small, less-visible area.
