This is a fine natural Tanzanite stone. This means that it is NOT SYNTHETIC(man made) OR SIMULATED( a different material)! It is a medium-dark tone bluish-purple in color. All my Tanzanite is natural and is from older stock around 1991-1992.

This one weighs approximately .68cts. It is a 7x5mm pear cut and is 10x Loupe clean, there are no inclusions. The pics may show some dust because they are so close up, but the stone is not damaged at all. It is a lovely blue-purple in color.

The setting is solid Sterling Silver and is a size 7.

Be very wary of a nice size Tanzanite that has a low cost and has a great color. It is probably a different material(simulate) like glass, quartz or crystal. If not, it may be of poor quality. It can also be heated more by man to look more like the D-Block Tanzanites. These will not be worth much in value if they are tampered with. Tanzanite is heated naturally by the earth to get their natural color.

To make sure that you don't buy a fake, use a dichroscope on the gem. Tanzanite is a pleochroic gem(has multi colors like green, blue, purple, green-blue, purple-blue, gray-blue etc... when looked at from different angles). The dichroscope will split the colors into two different windows. The two colors it splits into are just for the Tanzanite. The colors should be a purple or purple pink or green in one window and a blue in the other window. Sometimes one window is purple and the other is green. There are also Tanzanite gem filters as well that will show the Tanzanite as a pinkish-orange.
Garnet, Cubic Zirconium, Spinel, and glass will have no color split at all.

The pictures are taken as close to the stone's color as possible, but realize that not all monitors show the same color clarity. On my monitor it looks a little more blue, but it has more purple in it.
