Retro pink framed batik is sublime symbolism of peace. The technique is Batik and is done by hand where no 2 are ever the same. The process uses dyes to create wonderful pieces of art. The subtle color and shades make this a delicate and interesting piece of art. Depicting 2 birds on a wire, in soft pink symbolize peace. Although I can’t see any signature (it may be on the lower edge and hidden by the frame) this came from a high end home which housed many Amos Amit batiks. However, it is reminiscent of Paule Marrot batiks which are very costly.
Batik is a process using melted wax as a resist on fabric. The wax may be painted on a white or coloured fabric using a brush dipped in melted wax. The fabric is then dyed, and the areas that have been waxed will not be penetrable by the dye. This is done over and over changing the dye color until the picture is finished. The wax is then washed to reveal the finished picture.
A professionally framed with the more expensive glare free glass. This was a treasured piece and is in excellent preowned condition It measures 19" long by 15" wide. It is framed in a retro ivory lacquer frame that measures 22 ½” by 18".

In our disposable society, we forget how paying a premium for quality items allows us to use fewer things because we don't have to throw them out when they inevitably wear out in a few months. Sadly, many people stop analyzing and thinking about the true lifetime value of what they are shopping for, and especially when it comes to lighting.
All items in my shop are vintage and somebody used them before, this means they have some traces of use as normally all used items have, but small scratches, tiny chips should not be an obstacle if you appreciate quality, which is obviously higher for these items than found in most modern items nowadays.

If free shipping or flat rate shipping is offered then it only applies to LOWER 48 U.S. - Shipping is never free for international shipping. Please note, shipping calculators can be very tricky - and often wrong. I ship whichever method is most cost effective for you - regardless of what the auction states. 80% of the time the package will ship via the stated service (ie: fed ex home, priority mail, etc) however I will occasionally have to switch services in order to not lose money on shipping. Also, I do try and combine shipping if you buy multiple items - this almost always means it will ship FED EX since it is more cost effective for heavier packages. Shipping may be higher for P.O. Box, especially for larger items.

BEING GREEN: I strive to run a GREEN business. If possible, clean, appropriate shipping boxes of all sizes and packing materials, are gathered and stored to help reduce landfill. It takes time and effort, but I am proud to do my part to help reduce the stress on our landfills, economy and help reduce our carbon footprint.
