**UPDATED FOR THINGS ABOVE COLLECTION! The updated pattern features a coloring page and a fabric key that corresponds to the Moda boxed kit for this pattern and collection. IMPORTANT: The cutting and piecing instructions have NOT changed!**

Firm Foundation is a traditionally pieced, one-block quilt that is designed to use the beautiful panels featured in fabric collections by Fancy That Design House for Moda Fabrics. You could also use her tea towels instead of the quilt fabric panels.

I was inspired to design Firm Foundation by Stephanie's beautiful hymn panel artwork and memories of my grandmother Ann, who was a talented pianist and a church choir director for many, many years; whenever I spent childhood summers with all my grandparents in Alabama, I’d tag along to choir practice with her.

Fabric Requirements (UPDATED FOR THINGS ABOVE)

• 1 fat quarter bundle of Things Above by Fancy That Design House (45610AB)
• 1 additional panel of Things Above 45619 11 (large multicolored hymn blocks) *You’ll need a total of 12 large hymn blocks for this quilt, which is 2 panel repeats; the fat quarter bundle includes 1 panel, so you will only need to purchase 1 additional panel.
• 1/3 yd cocoa brown solid (Moda Bella 9900 180) for chapel roofs
• 3 1/4 yards Bella Porcelain (9900 182) for block backgrounds, sashings, and borders
• 3/8 yd pink and gold floral (Things Above 45612 11) for border
• 7/8 yard teal lattice print (Things Above 45615 26) for binding
• 5 1/2 yards of backing fabric (I recommend Things Above 45611 18)
• Wrights EZ Quilting Tri-Recs tool (You could also use a 4 1/2” Triangle-in-a-Square ruler set from Bloc Loc, but you will need to adjust your fabric cutting to accommodate the fabric requirements for that ruler set.)
