I was able to use an ID band as soon as we received it (which incidentally was super fast shipping). My 2 y/o daughter loved the dinosaur design and did not mind at all having this "bracelet" on her wrist the whole week on the cruise. What I would recommend is only using it for 2-3 days max and switching after its gotten wet. The paper on the back started to rub off when wet and the color/design starts to fade after a few days.
