15-String Pythagorean Monochord – Tuning 432 Hz
Professional instrument for sound massage, meditation and harmonics study
The 15-string Pythagorean monochord is designed to produce a rich, stable, and coherent harmonic field, ideal for therapeutic, musical, and educational applications. The reference tuning is A = 432 Hz, a choice that allows for a soft, rounded vibration that is particularly suited to deep relaxation.
Acoustic Structure and Materials
Soundboard: Made of carefully selected natural woods (generally spruce for the top and denser woods for the sides and back), chosen for their resonance properties, stability and homogeneity.
Pythagorean sizing: the vibrating length of the strings and the proportions of the body follow criteria inspired by the Pythagorean tradition, optimizing the production of higher harmonics.
Finish: natural-based protective treatments that preserve the wood's vibration without compromising its acoustic sensitivity.
Strings, Tension and Sound Response
15 metal strings with balanced gauge and tension to ensure uniform output.
The multiple configuration allows for greater harmonic density, with extended sustain and a more enveloping vibrational field than single-string monochords.
The string arrangement allows for a smooth, responsive attack whether played with fingers, a bow, or light strumming.
The A 432 Hz tuning is calibrated to maximize stability during prolonged use in sound treatments.
Mechanics and Tuning System
Pegs or precision mechanics mounted on a reinforced head.
Smooth and precise micro-adjustment to maintain stability and uniformity between strings.
Optimized setup to reduce structural stress and keep the soundboard free to vibrate.
Foldable Briefcase Design
Fully foldable structure, with a resistant and play-free opening/closing system.
Once closed, the instrument takes the form of a compact and easily transportable case.
Internal components designed so that the opening movement does not interfere with the tension of the strings.
Applications and Usage
Ideal for sound massage, meditation, yoga, mindfulness, sound healing and guided relaxation sessions.
Also suitable for experimental musical contexts, sound installations and the study of the harmonic series.
The extremely stable response makes it a reliable tool for holistic professionals.
Artisanal Construction.
Each piece is entirely handcrafted in Italy by the luthier Robert Matteaccì, who personally takes care of:
wood selection,
cutting and processing of the case,
string assembly and calibration,
final acoustic check and tuning adjustment.
The result is a unique instrument, built with professional criteria and designed to guarantee sound quality, robustness and durability over time.
