This is a wonderful book, the first book Leach dedicated to his own work. Filled with 80 photographs, twelve of them in color. Also contains 30 pages of his drawings of pots and their decorations. I find these particularly intriguing. Leach was known to often sketch pots, before he made them, in this book you will see sketches of some of his popular forms. Some were part of the standard ware, and some were one-off pots. Extensive captions on how the pots were made, and a commentary by Leach evaluating their aesthetic quality.

The book contains 32 pages of text, and the rest of the book is comprised of the drawings and photographs.

Most of the work in the book is from the 1960's, by this time Leach had reached "Super-star" status in the pottery world. The book became an instant success after publication in 1967.
