Shaker Style End Table PDF Plans: DIY Woodworking Project

This plan will teach you how to build a small Shaker style end table. Shaker style end tables usually have a square top, but my design features a rectangular top that is roughly half of a square. This makes for a smaller table that fits better at the end of a couch or against a wall, and occupies a smaller footprint.

This table is an ideal project for hand tools enthusiasts, although it can also be built using power tools. The table features mostly straight faces and square edges, which is great for practicing using hand saws and hand planes. The frame is joined using mortise and tenons, and the drawer uses dovetails (half-blind for the front corners). In these plans I will be assuming we are using hand tools, but feel free to use any tools and techniques you prefer!

I built the table on the pictures with African Mahogany (and poplar for the inside pieces of the drawer). You can use any type of wood you want. Here are some species that work well with hand tools: mahogany, walnut, cherry, or even poplar and pine (these 2 are softer and less durable, but easier to work with).
