Vintage from the 1970s

Statement Necklace: This beautiful Abalone necklace set was purchased in the mid 70's from the Sea Shell Shops in Outer Banks North Carolina. It measures 20 inches in length and features a focal point of 7 pieces of abalone shells ranging from 1 3/4 inches x 1 1/2 inches to 1 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches in size. Each piece of abalone is shield shape, has a black backing and is attached to the next with 2 silver beads and a silver disc. The back of the necklaces is composed of six sections of 10 silver metal discs and a silver shepherd's hook closure. The matching Abalone earrings are clip on and measure 1 3/4 inches by 1 1/2 inches. What a wonderful set to wear with your summer sundresses or perhaps you want to own a bit of Outer Banks history. The Sea Shell Shop closed in the Outer Banks in 1989.

My order was very nice, good quality job, match my earrings. Just the necklace is too short. I usually wear necklaces 18-20 in. This one, I believe, 16 in. And no extension.
