Kai Fella Sweater - Pattern

Welcome to the Kai Fella Sweater!

The long awaited Kai Fella is here! I’ve been anxiously working on this pattern for well over a year, trying to make it as knitter friendly as possible and I think I am finally there.
The pattern uses the Intarsia method which twists the yarn and allows you to create the distinct colour blocks. It is not a difficult technique, but if you are struggling, head to YouTube for some tips :D

The pattern is written with Australian terms but there are size conversions in the pattern.

X Small - 80cm (31.5”)
Small - 90cm (35.5”)
Medium - 100cm (39.5”)
Large - 110cm (43.5”)
X Large - 120cm (47”)
XX Large - 130cm (51”)

Garment Length
XS - 66cm (26”)
S - 66cm (26”)
M - 69cm (27”)
L - 69cm (27”)
XL - 71cm (28”)
XXL - 71cm (28”)

Model is 181cm (5’11) and wears size M.
The length is adjustable and instructions can be found within the pattern.

I have used Brooklyn Tweed Shelter for the Kai Fella Sweater. This yarn is a 100% American Targhee-Columbia wool that is natural and rustic and gives off that real wool look. The yarn is a 10ply/worsted weight and knit using 5mm needles (US 8) so a perfect thickness for a nice easy project. This yarn is a light woollen spun yarn, so if you are using a different yarn you may need to order more than what the pattern recommends.

Please remember that if you can’t source the yarn that is recommended then try to find a yarn with a similar tension gauge. The tension gauge is the most important part when ensuring your completed jumper is the same as what you see in the pictures.

This garment is knit using stocking stitch and knit in panels from the bottom up. The panels are then sewn together to complete the garment. I tried to simplify the pattern as much as possible in order to make it an easy and enjoyable project. A schematics of the design is attached at the end of the pattern that shows the measurements of each part of the jumper.
There is also a chart included where you can colour in the squares to suit your own unique style!
The measurements are in metric measurements so remember when you are converting - 2.5cm is equivalent to 1 inch :)
