These Visual Journaling workbooks are detailed handouts from my live teaching events around the world from 1997-2018. They are booklets that are folded and stapled, black and white xerox on paper, with paper covers. Every assignment that I would have taught my students appear in the workbook exactly as I would have said it. It's like you are following along with the workshop! Some booklets have cardstock covers with colored paper pages. Where indicated, covers, and covers only, are in full color. I am selling a process, not a product. The booklets are not the "thing", but rather house a virtual workshop using my process. The real "thing" is your own expression, guided by my unique and original assignments.

The Haunted Art of Repetition with Juliana Coles
No prior experience necessary. For all levels.
This workbook provides instruction for 3 different assignments that use repetition to combine journal writing with art making. Discover how to use repetition as a compositional device in setting up interesting and creative visual journaling pages. These techniques can apply to any other art project such as paintings or drawings.
Workbook includes supply list, how to choose a book, and plenty of homework assignments.
Repetition is necessary to artmaking because it allows us to create and develop a series; it also assists us with composition and greatly aids our experimentation process which is the basis of all art making. The Art of Repetition is a creative device we will use to set up repeating black and white images in a Visual Journal for high impact and then work back into these graphic images for interesting affects that can be used in any other art form. At the risk of repeating myself, I’ll repeat myself; utilizing repetition we will start with one image and repeat it like a quilt, then shrink it down and create a border, as well as blow it up and expand on one central idea. It’s in these repetitive experiences that we have our Aha! moments. This is the perfect introductory workshop to Visual Journaling for those interested in discovering this style of working! This workbook takes advantage of the Fall/Halloween season to use creepy, spooky images to set up our pages! In one of my workshops a student bought stacks of black and white photocopies of old gothic creepy looking mansions that I still have and use!
Your workbook is shipped USPS in a cardboard envelope for protection along with plenty of goodies!
