Welcome to Rivers and Roads! Our small family business strives create pure, sustainable, hand-poured, small-batch, artisan candles and home goods. We began this journey on the heels of a relentless search for a pure beeswax candle with a cotton wick - at an affordable price! Last year, we decided we wanted to try our hand at creating a carefully sourced candle we could trust - with full transparency into our process! After many trials (beeswax is tricky!) we finally have a product we (and the bees!) can be proud of and we think you will LOVE it!

We craft our handmade candles in our home studio with our kids in-tow! We melt small batches of our *Indiana beeswax - sourced from a small apiary 1.5 hours from our studio*. It is a lovely waiting game with the smell of sweet beeswax filing the air!

Once the golden wax melts into a thick syrup-like consistency, we slowly pour our wax into our hand-wicked and molds. * Please note, we DO NOT use silicone spray or any kind of mould-release chemical (this is common component used with many pillar candles.* We believe every ingredient must be safe and indeed healthy to make it into our product - into your home. Our products are, simply put, healthy for you, the environment, and the future.

Our artisan candles are hand-poured in small batches. They vary ever so slightly in color, height, and texture. This can be contributed to the variations in expansion and shrinkage of the wax, what the bees are feasting on at the time of harvest, and simply the nature of a handmade product. We love the variations we see in our candles as the represent honest, hard work, done by hand. We hope you love our candles as much as we do! We find they are a perfect gift for self care, Mother's Day, birthdays, Christmas, Diwali, Yule, altars, loss, and any celebration! We love to fill the fireplace with them and enjoy their warm golden glow and sweet natural aroma. These are also SLOW burn candles making them perfect for emergency candles!

🕯 Our 1/4” tips 😊

🐝 When burning our beeswax pillar candles, it is imperative the first time you light your candle to let the candle burn until the pool of melted wax forms a narrow collar around the perimeter of the candle, approximately 1/4”. This takes 2-4 hours depending on the size of the candle. This initial 1/4” collar burn ensures the candle will continue burning efficiently for the duration of its life.

🐝 Keep wick trimmed to 1/4” prior to each lighting to ensure proper, efficient, clean burns each time you light.

🐝 Keep candles away from drafts and vibrations. Never leave a candle unattended. Always keep candles out of the reach of children. Place pillar candles on pillar plates or a similar protective surface.

🐝 Sunlight naturally lightens beeswax over time. You may notice your beeswax candle lightening to an ivory white if it sits in indirect, or especially direct sunlight.

🐝 Over time, beeswax releases its natural oils and pushes them to the surface of the candle. This process is called “bloom” and is a delightful, natural aging of the beeswax. These oils can be simply wiped away with a damp cloth or left alone to add character to your nature-made organic beeswax candle. ♥️
