▏ABOUT ⧫ SHUNGITE▕

Shungite is a black, carbon-rich rock composed of nearly 98% carbon, giving it a sooty texture when crushed. Technically, shungite is a mineraloid, similar to amber, opal, or obsidian (volcanic glass), as it lacks a distinct crystalline structure. The majority of shungite deposits are located in the Karelia region of Russia.

Our powdered material consists of mostly silt and clay sized particles (<0.25mm). Our powders do have a slight grit to them. Powdered minerals are great for filling in small cracks or voids, resin art, and creating textured paints and pigments.
