It's marrow! For your HAIR-O!

After many inquiries from people wondering if they could use our liquid hand/dish soap as shampoo, I figured it was time to formulate something specifically for the shower.

With 40+ years of showering experience under my belt, I consider myself to be somewhat of a professional. From all of this self-cleaning expertise, I devised a list of everything a liquid shower soap should be:

- Cleansing,
- Moisturizing
- Skin-nourishing
- Natural
- Gentle (but not SO gentle that it's, well, shitty)
- And comprehensive.

Call me lazy (or less of a shower master than I claim to be), but I'm not into switching products a bunch of times depending on what part of myself I'm washing. A shampoo, and a conditioner, and a bar soap, and/or a body wash, and maybe some kind of specialty face goo? It all just amounts to more junk precariously balanced on that absurdly narrow shelf to inevitably knock over when you're attempting the eyes-closed, head-washing part of the shower routine. One-stop soaping. That's what I'm all about.

Beef Fat (both tallow and marrow) are intrinsically balanced in nature and completely compatible with human skin (we're all animals, after all). Because of this, there's no need for separate, lab-formulated frankenproducts for face and hair and body and hands like with plant-based soaps.

It was a tall order, to be sure, but that's why i'm so proud of it. Your parts will have never looked and felt healthier :-)

When you switch to any natural deodorant from an aluminum-laden anti-perspirant your you can expect a 2-4 week detox period. Around week two you'll likely notice an INCREASE in odor. THAT'S GOOD! That means that the aluminum that has been constricting your pores for god knows how long and the bacteria that's been trapped behind it is starting to be flushed out by the sweating that your armpits are finally being allowed to do. Oh yeah, during this time you'll also likely notice yourself sweating more. THAT'S ALSO GOOD! Both the sweat and bacteria will normalize by the end of those 2-4 weeks.

Listen, Maureen. If you stick your nose in the jar of beef fat it's going to smell like a jar of beef fat because it's a jar of beef fat. Dig?

HOWEVER, if used as directed (work a TINY amount of cream into the skin and, if there's excess, remove with a paper towel) the scent will dissipate within 5 minutes as the tallowy/marrowy goodness is absorbed. Result: moisturized, hydrated skin that smells like skin.

I love this queston! Let's talk about lather - There is zero correlation between the amount of lather a soap produces and how clean it'll get you; it's purely a perception thing. BUT, because there's such a strong association, commercial soaps add cheap, harsh chemicals to maximize lather production. But there's a natural alternative - Sugar!

Sugar, when added in trace amounts to soap (about 1 Tb per 10 lbs of soap), through equal parts science and magic, creates lather! Trouble is, it also creates a softer soap. That's where salt comes in.

The same amount of salt in bar soaps (in a similar science:magic ratio) makes for a much harder, longer-lasting bar. In liquid soaps, it allows me to adjust the consistency and achieve optimal goo.

I have wanted to try this shampoo for awhile, it works pretty well. My hair consists of a ton of fine long bone straight hairs. It leaves my dirty blonde hair a bit frizzy in an almost sea salt beach tussled hair way, which works for my effortlessly stylish yet kind of disgusting Piscean self. I think the pros outweigh the cons and I like that the list of ingredients is short and healthy. I already use JKLM's tallow skin cream, lip balms, and "deodorant". Yes, they smell a TINY bit beefy, but I personally do not care and no one will ever notice and if it bothers you for some reason just add some essential oil(s) to it.
