The tags are metal so they will tarnish and gain a natural patina and aged look. As with anything your dog wears, their tags require some maintenance. You can keep them looking new with some simple steps.

1. Mild soap and water along with fine steel wool and/or a polishing pad can be used to clean the natural patina off your tag. Avoid using harsh cleaners or chemicals on your tag.

2. If the letters or numbers lose their dark coloring and are not as easy to see, you can color in the letters and numbers with a black Sharpie marker. Once you've done that, use fine steel wool and/or polishing pad to clean off any excess Sharpie marks and polish the tag.

There is a consistent flow of orders and the tags are made one at a time to ensure attention to detail. The tags are hand stamped and each number, letter, and design element is stamped individually. They all go through a series of uniquely developed hand polishing techniques to achieve the intended appearance.

Orders take 4-6 weeks to ship and are done in the order they are received. You will receive an email notification with tracking details when it ships. After you receive your notification it may take 2-3 days for the USPS tracking details to show. If you do not see any tracking details 7 days after you’ve received your notification, please let us know.

Each tag includes a high quality complementary split ring. A stainless steel split ring will be included with silver, copper, and bronze tags. A brass split ring will be included with brass tags. The use of split rings for your pet’s tag is optional. We do offer attachment upgrades for purchase including s-hooks and Nite-Ize®️Tag Locks.

The split rings are strong and may need to be attached with pliers. A piece of tape can be applied to the tag, above the hole, to prevent scratches when attaching the split ring. Painter’s tape or medical tape works best.

Changes made after you place your order will be noted on your order but will not be guaranteed. The best way to avoid errors would be to place a new order with the correct info. Once you’ve done this you can contact us to cancel the previous order and update your ship date.

All the metals we use are high quality and 14g thickness. We offer bronze, brass, silver, and copper. These metals will not rust, but will gain a natural patina. They can cause discoloration on animals with white or light colored fur. This can also occur if the tag becomes wet from swimming, water dishes, slobber, or oil from their skin. Try to keep the tag dry, or remove the tag during time in the water. If your pet wears the tag in the water, you could also remove it while their fur dries. This will help prevent discoloration, but may not stop it completely. Following the care instructions provided with each order will help keep the tag clean. The only metal that won’t cause discoloration is stainless steel, which we do not carry.
