Can I track my order online?

Yes, you can. Sign in to Etsy.com and go to Your account, or sign in to the Etsy app and go to You. Go to Purchases and reviews. Find your order. On the Etsy app, tap your order. Click Track Package to see more tracking updates. You can also see shipping information in the shipping notification emails for your order. Click Track Package in the email notification to view the status of your delivery.

When will my order ship?

Every print is made to order and usually ships within 1-5 business days. The estimated delivery date shown at checkout includes both production and shipping time. Need it by a specific date? Add a note at checkout or message us, and we'll do our best to make it happen.

My print arrived damaged or my package is lost. What happens now?

We're sorry. Please message us right away, and include photos if your print is damaged. We'll replace it or refund you quickly. For lost packages, we'll file a search with the carrier and then reship your order or issue a refund.

My package was returned to sender. Will you reship it?

If a package comes back because of an incorrect or incomplete address, or because it wasn't picked up after a delivery notice, we can reship it for a new shipping fee. The original shipping cost can't be refunded. If the package was returned because of a carrier error or a mistake on our side, we'll send a replacement or refund at no cost to you. Please double-check your address at checkout, and message us right away if you spot a mistake.

I ordered the wrong size. What can I do?

Contact us as soon as possible. If production hasn't started yet, we can usually change or cancel your order. If your print has already been made, we'll send you a discount code toward a replacement in the right size. Please let us know within 14 days of delivery.

What condition are the maps in? Are they originals?

Our prints are high-quality reproductions of original historical maps and artwork, not the originals themselves. Because the source material can be centuries old, many prints show authentic signs of age, such as fold lines, toning, foxing, repaired tears or stains. We consider these part of each map's character, not printing defects. Please look closely at all photos before ordering, and message us if you'd prefer a cleaner, more modern look.

Are Your Prints Framed?

Paper prints come unframed, so you can choose a frame that matches your space. Selected designs are also available as gallery-wrapped canvas: the image is stretched over a 1.25-inch wooden frame and wraps around the edges for a clean, finished look. Canvas prints arrive ready to hang, with no extra outer frame.

Will I pay import duties or customs fees?

US: No. Your print is made and shipped within the US, so it never crosses a border. The checkout price is final; Etsy adds applicable US sales tax where required. Europe: Orders are made and shipped within Europe, so no customs fees apply within the EU. Australia and New Zealand: Etsy collects GST at checkout where required. For most orders, no further fees are due on delivery. Other countries: Your local customs office may charge import duties or taxes on delivery. Message us before ordering if you'd like more details.

Where will my order be printed and shipped from?

US, Australian and New Zealand orders are printed and shipped from the United States by our US production partner. European orders are printed and shipped within Europe. Orders to all other countries are printed in our studio in Bucharest, Romania. Wherever you are, we print your order as close to you as possible, for faster and safer delivery.

How will my print be packaged?

Paper prints are shipped unframed and rolled in a sturdy protective tube, so they arrive without folds or creases. Canvas prints are stretched, carefully wrapped and shipped ready to hang.

Bacon's Chart of Useful Knowledge, 1910s.

Large wall-map style compendium of all 'useful knowledge' - a densely informative chromolithographic masterpiece. Bacon's map/chart emerges out of the great age of data collection - a period following the Age of Discovery in which improved transportation and intellectual optimism encouraged a furious effort to catalog, 'collect', and contextualize the natural world. The present map synthesizes these efforts into a single dense aimed at both the next generation of explorer/scientists and the armchair adventurer. Herein, information is effectively summarized and categorized, embracing an impressive range of subjects: astronomy, geography, transportation, ethnology, geology, anthropology, and more.

The chart's focal point is the world map at center. The map presents the world on a Mercator projection with countries, trade routes, distances, and other detail defined. It is surrounded by the flags of numerous nations, as well as a comparative chart of twenty-four man-made structures, and another of rivers of the Eastern and Western Hemispheres.

The chart continues with illustrations of some of the world's coinage with exchange rates to British pounds. A table listing '100 of the World's Great Men' from Homer to Cecil Rhodes occupies the left portion of the sheet below the currency and is followed by a list of seventeen famous women. Both are decidedly Anglo-centric. A similar chart lists the 'Most Famous Battles of the World' from the Battle of Troy to the 1905 Battle of Tsushima. A 'comparative time chart of the world' relative to Greenwich separates the two tables.

A comparative chart of the heights of the world's tallest mountains occupies the bottom part of the chart. The chief mountains of the Western and Eastern Hemispheres appear in the left and right, respectively, with each peak identified by name. At center, a diagram presents plant life at various altitudes.

At the top of the sheet, diagrams and a short text focus on the solar system. The diagram in the upper left illustrates the inner solar system, presenting Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars' orbits around the Sun. A chart comparing the size of the eight planets and the Sun occupies the top right. An illustration of the Earth as a planet appears at top center.

Below the discussion of the solar system are six vignettes illustrating modes of transportation. These progress from camels and donkeys to ox-drawn wagons and stagecoaches, ending with steamships, steam engines, automobiles, and airplanes. A short discussion of these 'conveyances' appears along the left border.
