An at home envelope puzzle game that can be played alone or in a group! This wax-sealed envelope is full of mysteries to solve with 2 different endings to find.
You've been invited to join a role playing game, inspired by D&D, Pathfinder, and similar games, but the Game Master hasn't made your invite simple. Included in the envelope are the character sheets for your fellow players, alongside a page of cryptic lore and a set of scratch-off panels to reveal your equipment. Your task is to solve the many puzzles hidden across every component to fill in your own character sheet; but something else is afoot, and it is up to you whether you want to trust the Game Master and join his game, or subvert the entire process by solving the hardest puzzles in the pack.
The wax-sealed C5 (A5) envelope is chock full of components that must be used together in multiple ways to reveal the secrets of the Game Master! The game also includes an online component - not only can clues and hints be found online, but the story concludes online, the ending changing based on what puzzles you solve, and who you choose to trust in the story.
This game includes two endings the story can take depending on your solutions to the puzzles, and the answers you give to fill in your character sheet online. This envelope gift makes an excellent birthday or Christmas gift for the puzzle lover in your life, or a special treat for yourself. The game will be shipped in a hard backed envelope to protect it during transit.
The game at a glance:
Story - This game's story frames the puzzles and provides context for the clues. The story introduces everything, and then once the puzzles are solved depending on the answers found, one of the endings is unlocked, concluding the story. If you want more story and a little less puzzle, my game "Lost in the Machine" might appeal to you.
Puzzles - This game features a variety of puzzles, some quite easy and some very tricky. Both endings require most of the puzzles to be solved, however the hardest puzzle in the pack is only required for one of the endings. Hints are available for all puzzles.
Child Friendliness - This game is well suited to players young and old. There are some general references to fantasy violence and weapons, and some vaguely creepy notes, but these are quite minor. If you are concerned about these aspects, feel free to message me and I'll detail the content more comprehensively for you.
Accessibility - This game requires the ability to read text at a standard size in both printed and handwritten forms, and the ability to browse the internet; however on the website is a copy of all handwritten text included in the game so if any is difficult to read there is an alternative option. If you are a puzzler who might be able to play this game with larger printed media, please get in contact and I'll do everything I can to provide you a version you can enjoy. Deaf or hard of hearing players will have no barriers to enjoying this game. Players with manual dexterity issues may have trouble opening the wax-sealed envelope; if this will be a barrier to you enjoying the game get in touch and I'm happy to provide a solution that will work for you.
