A brilliant vintage Czech brooch. This amazing vintage rhinestone pin was created with an eye for absolute perfection. Glistening emerald, green large marquise cabochons alternating with long thin topaz colored navettes. The center emerald green teardrop cabochon is surrounded with shimmering crystal chaton's. A well-made and sturdy vintage brooch. This is a bright, fun and festive piece sure to make you smile! It measures 2.25 by 2 inches and is not signed.

This will be mailed First class mail with tracking, in a jewelry box in a padded envelope. I will check all the stones and clean them prior to being shipped. A shipping upgrade is available at check out.

For centuries, the foundries of old Czechoslovakia have been renowned for their impressive crystal, glass and jewelry craftsmanship. This crystal brooch comes directly from Jablonec, Czechoslovakia which was formerly called Gablonze before WWII. (Many of the Jewelry houses closed during the war.)

From 1925-1950s, Czech jewelry was heavily soldered, typically with copper or pot metal (a mixture of semi-precious metals). Often these pieces display maker’s marks indicating the district name of the jewelry company. Sometimes the word “Czech’ will appear on the back as well.

When they were made in the 1920s to the 1950s, film stars had first begun to set popular taste and their luxurious jewels were duplicated best of all by the Czechs. The nation was Bohemia prior to World War I, remember, and they had centuries of expertise in creating and setting the finest crystal gems.

The dots of solder on the reverses aren't actually repairs, but preventive strengthening measures undertaken to prevent potential damage. In 1918 the Czechs and Slovaks united. They were finally freed from the rule of Austria and Hungary. The land in which they live became the Czech Republic on January 1st, 1993. Prior to WW I, the jewelry from this area was called Bohemian and often not marked. After WW I, the jewelry was marked with Czecho, Czecho-slovakia, Czechoslovakia, Czech or Made in Czechoslovakia.

My Grandmother taught me to use plain toothpaste and an old soft toothbrush to clean jewelry. The toothbrush that you have used way to long and really needs to be thrown away..... Both the costume and the good stuff.........I have always done this, because she told me to.......However, I was watching an episode of Antique Roadshow one night and they said the same thing! When I heard that I just grinned and thought of her. Its getting hard to find toothpaste without any additives but I order from a dollar store online and can find it there. Remember to wash your jewelry and trees with hot water over a bowl just in case a stone comes out. Place the tree on a thick towel and try to remove as much excess water as you can.
