Yes. Each piece is pressure washed and scrubbed with a stiff bristle brush to remove dirt and plant debris. The water used is untreated natural spring water that flows from a vein of springs at my home.

Yes. There are two methods for this. For smaller pieces, you can put them in boiling water for 5 minutes. The second method involves putting the dry slate pieces in your oven. Set the temperature to 250 degrees and let the pieces come to temperature as the oven preheats. Once the oven and rock have preheated, let the rock cook at 250 for 15 minutes. Then, turn off the oven and let the rock and oven cool gradually over time. Before using the oven method, make sure the slate has been thoroughly dried for at least 24 hours.

There are multiple ways you can do this depending on which tools you have. You can use a hammer, wrench, knife handle, concrete floor or even a rounded piece of granite. Which ever object you choose, strike the sharp part directly on top of it. Hitting at an angle will only make sharp pieces. When doing this, make sure it is done outside or a well ventilated area to avoid breathing in the rock dust.

For orders by weight, I try to process within 3 business days. Sometimes I run a few days behind. Hide construction requires more attention to detail, and takes up to 2 weeks to complete. Custom orders will likely take the same amount of time.

For fastest delivery, I strongly recommend making sure your address matches what the USPS has on file for you. I DO NOT CORRECT ADDRESSES UNLESS INSTRUCTED TO DO SO BY CUSTOMERS. Yes, I have several flat pieces in stock that range from 14 inches to 24+ inches in length. These pieces are excellent for adult bearded dragons, large snakes, and More! Just send me a message telling me about your project and how big you need your piece(s). :)

For calculating weight, use 168 pounds per cubic foot. That means a 12 inch by 12 inch piece that is 1 inch thick will weigh 14 pounds. For additional perspective, a 6 inch by 6 inch piece that is 1 inch thick will weigh about 3.5 pounds. Most of the material I use is between .25 inches and .75 inches in thickness.
