SIGNED by the author! Vintage cookbook (1952) "Quick and Easy Meals For Two" by Louella G. Shouer of Ladies' Home Journal; w/dust jacket

Louella Grace Shouer was an associate food editor for "Ladies' Home Journal," and was in charge of the operation of their food department. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1908, moved to Freeport, Illinois as a young woman, and graduated from Iowa State in 1930 with a degree in Home Economics. In 1952 she wrote "this completely new kind of cookbook in response to repeated requests from readers of her immensely popular 'Journal' column." Although there are a handful of copies of this title for sale on other sites, this is the ONLY ONE signed by the author herself! Louella signed in ink on the front flyleaf, using both her maiden name and her married name (Louella G. Levinton).

If you know someone with an interest in the 1950s, or who collects cookbooks, then this would be a perfect present for them! Red cloth-covered boards, with a black image of a woman in an apron riding a pig on the front cover. Black titling on spine. The dust jacket (in yellow, green, red, and white) is in poor shape, with many tears, chips, folds, and losses. The book itself, though, is excellent. Binding and hinges very good. Pages bright and tight, with no annotations or marks (rare for a 1950s cookbook). This is NOT an ex-library copy. The pages are free from foxing, stains, tears, or losses.

The dust jacket flap reads: "This sparkling new cookbook is especially designed to make cooking easier for career girls, brides, working wives, young marrieds, and all busy homemakers. . . when you want to prepare ahead and dine at leisure . . . turn to QUICK AND EASY MEALS FOR TWO." The book's illustrations are by Reisie Lonette, and its preface is by Ann Batchelder. The book was published by Bramhall House of New York.
