This hand sculpted cup is made with wild clay and fired with a traditional pit firing method.

Pit firing is the most ancient universal approach to ceramics; putting pottery on the earth and building a fire around it. The pottery comes out similar to a bisque firing and is unglazed. Unglazed pottery offers an amazing opportunity to commune with the clay as a vessel. Instructions for caring for these cups will be included with order.

My vessels have a light beeswax finish to make them water tight. The clay was gathered in western Oregon along with five clay paints foraged around the Pacific Northwest.

Beautiful and thin cup with a nicely attached handle. I don’t see any real flaw other than a tiny chip on the bottom that in no way affects the function of the cup. Great job of firing to ceramic.
