A Strong Start! a 3-4 hour adventure built to teach 5e to new players

Created to teach newbies how to play tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons, this adventure takes GMs through the three pillars of tabletop rpg gameplay: role-play, exploration, and combat. Each section focuses on one pillar, and introduces concepts and practice in accessible segments that build on one another.

Digital files (sent after the physical product is mailed) include:
+ a PDF appendix for the booklet,
+ a PDF of GM resources, a folder with art and image files,
+ a PDF of location descriptions, a folder with map locations (gridded and ungridded),
+ a PDF with NPC and baddie descriptions/stats,
+ and a folder with 16 pre-generated characters on a simplified, color-coded character sheet.

THE ADVENTURE:

Players begin in an inn and are hired by a local to help investigate a sketchy local attraction for clues about a suspected theft. This is where they practice role-play, with the non-player character and with other player characters.

When players arrive at the attraction, their employer is kidnapped. Players explore several rooms, collecting clues and learning about exploration, traps, and conditions.

Finally, players discover a hidden basement crypt, where they encounter (and fight) baddies. This is where they learn how combat works and get a chance to practice.

The adventure ends with players recovering the lost object and returning safely to town.
