This beautiful set of eight 8" embroidery hoops is a collection of work titled "Tendrils Studies" made in 2022. I created each work based on their shared connection of being complex natural networks, including vines, ant tunnels, leaf veins, mole tunnels, mushroom mycelium networks, tree roots, human veins, and quartz formations (images 2 to 9 respectively). I used 100% organic cotton and upcycled fabric and DMC embroidery thread to make each one. These pieces look lovely together on a wall either symmetrically or staggered, and can be hung with a simple hammer and nails. This collection has been shown in multiple art shows in London, Ontario, including at the Forest City Gallery's Member's Show and Sale (2022) and Good Sport's Vital Signs of the Non-Human Domain (2022). In total, "Tendrils Studies" took over 15 hours to make.
