Hand-stitched patchwork Bag, Vintage Shibori Silk Fabrics, Boro inspired with Sashiko embroidery, Unique Clutch Pouch, Versatile Zipper Purse, Japanese style

Perfect for storing make up, keys, phone, pens/pencils, craft supplies and all other little bits and pieces, - large enough to use as a small clutch purse for a special occasion

Process:
I carefully choose fabric patches from my well curated collection of Linen, Japanese Cotton and Silk, to create a pleasing layout. I then hand-embroider them unto the base cloth with matching and/or contrasting threads, using a straight Sashiko* stitch. This process takes many hours!! This cloth then gets sewn into a drawstring bag or pouch. 😌

* Sashiko is a striking hand-sewing technique that originated in ancient Japan. In Japanese, its name means “little stabs”—a reference to the plain running stitch.

* Boro refers to the practice of reworking and repairing textiles (often clothes or bedding) through piecing, patching and stitching, in order to extend their use.

24cm (9.5 inches) wide at the top
16.5cm (6.5 inches) at the bottom,
14cm (5.5 inches) heigh, 8cm (3 1/4 inches) deep base

Outer fabric: Boro style Japanese patchwork using silk patches in grey, blue and pink/salmon, with matching hand-stitched Sashiko embroidery on thread dyed Beige Linen
Lining: Natural seeded cotton drill
Interfacing for additional structure
Cotton thread for embroidery, Polyester sewing thread
Grey metal look zipper with silver teeth
Silver zipper pull with leather lace
