This package includes a Compact High Sided Classic Drum Carder, Finishing Brush, Secondary Brush, Porcupine Quill, doffer tool and table clamps .

This is the high sided version of the Compact Classic. The benefit of having high sides is that you can use it away from a table edge! The high sides mean there is plenty of clearance for the handle to turn. With long length pins on the drum to hold more fibre.

Handmade in Britain, from high quality sustainably sourced solid Ash wood. Wood is a natural product and there will be variations in colour and wood grain.

The folding handle makes it easier for transporting and storing. All carders are set up and ready to use. However, they are fully adjustable should this be required.

With our interchangeable drum system these carders are beautifully crafted and designed with the user in mind and can be tailored to your own specifications, using spare drums with different carding cloth. Different grades of cloth are available for carding different fibres:

72 tpi (tines per inch) is for general carding, giving the best results on medium fibres. This carder is also suitable for the occasional use of coarse or fine fibre, with a change of carding technique (details on the Classic Carder website).

48 tpi will give the best result for a coarse fibre (mountain sheep) and art batts, as it has more space between the pins.

120 tpi has closer pins and will give the best results for fine fibres such as Alpaca, Angora and Mohair.

The cloth we use is rubberised four ply cotton backed, of the highest quality, pale blue colour. Pale blue is the preferred option for fibre colour blending, as it is a neutral background. We offer two pin lengths, the standard pin, and the longer pins for art batts

Postage to many locations is included in the cost of each carder.

You may have to pay import tax where you live - please check with your local authority.

Buyers in the UK and Europe have to pay tax (VAT) on their carder, the VAT is included in the price. The cost of postage within the UK is also included, postage to Europe costs a little more hence the charge. I do not profit from postage.
