ELDERBERRY - This is a very old box that I wouldn't be surprised to find hails from the 1960’s. Even though it has a classic, stately appearance, it was very tired and showing its age. However, with it’s tall carousel compartment, and a tray with a ring pillow and four compartments along with two exta large drawers, it was too good to pass up for a remodel.
After a light sanding to remove some scratches, it was given a complete cleaning inside and out. It was then based with Fusion’s Elderberry, a sophisticated purple red shade, to start its dramatic transformation. Next some beautiful floral transfers were selected for a pop of color to enhance the sides of the box and inside the long stately doors. The clay decor moulds add a touch of elegance to the door fronts while carrying out the transfer design. Then an overall application of Dixie Bell’s metallic Silver Bullet adds an irresistible soft sheen that takes it to the next level. A bit of light distressing was used to add to the Shabby Chic feel of this box. A water based polyurethane was applied to create a protective finish to seal the chalk paint so it will last for years. The makeover now gives this box a modern edgy feel while retaining it’s appealing vintage design elements. The box is now a gorgeous, upcycled designer success you'll be proud to add to your decor.
