Our leathers are of the best quality. With good care, our boots will only get softer and more comfortable with time. For the finer leathers of the Victorian boots, start with a good clean with a soft damp cloth followed by your favorite polish. Best to remove the laces if you want a proper all round glowing cleanliness. If you are worried about matching the colour of your model, opt for a neutral polish, that will nourish, keep the leather supple and shinny. For the Work Boots and Raw hide boots, we prefer Dubbin types of waxes and shoe balms. They are excellent to maintain a more rugged look, all the while preserving your boots from the elements.

Breaking in your boots

If the model you have selected is one with a stiffer, thicker leather, here are some tips to break in your boots. Rub a nice amount of Nivea or similar moisturising cream on the inside of your boots. Don't forget to give it a little patch test before going ahead. This will moisturise and soften the leather, making them easier to break in.

Are all products made in Portugal?

Yes. Portugal has a long heritage of shoe making and is world renowned for its leather products, from saddles to the ancestors of cowboy boots. Paired with the English traditional techniques of Good Year Welt, this makes it one of the top quality manufacturers in the world. We have chosen to produce our shoes with a few artisans and small family run factories. All our products are ethically produced, with natural materials, we guarantee fair wages and support family businesses. Producing with artisans and smaller factories comes with it’s challenges and sometimes imperfections, but we like that and it is helping to keep a craftsmanship heritage alive, while putting Portuguese traditional techniques and knowledge on the world map!

What should I expect from a Handmade Product?

Our products are Handmade in Portugal by Independent Artisans and small Family-run Factories. We chose these makers as we like the imperfection of the finish. This is not a standardised industrialised product, and so it might present some minor irregularities in the stitching, slight leather blemishes and marks. What others would call defects, we call personality. Handcrafted products are also environmentally friendly, as they take less energy and natural resources to produce than items made on a mass

My Boots have defects, Is this normal?

As mentioned above, these are handmade goods so mistakes can happen and they don't always come out perfect. Some sort of irregularities such as color imperfections, leather texture/roughness and a couple of asymmetries are not only ok as they are part of our product’s uniqueness. Sometimes though, imperfections are unfortunate, and you might not like them. Feel free to let us know as soon as you receive your boots. Describe the flaw with pictures so we can asses it, and work out the returning/refunding procedures immediately. Don’t worry as we aim to always meet our quality standards so we’ll remake your boots and send them back to you, at no extra cost, if we confirm your point when the item is sent back.

Can I return/exchange my boots or shoes?

Yes, you can, so long as it is within 30 days of receiving your items. To be eligible for a return for a refund, your item must be in original, unworn condition and also in their original box. Items returned that are not in original condition will not be eligible for an exchange or full refund. The customer is responsible to pay for postage costs for the return of the items to us. In the case of a return from outside of the European Union, we will provide you with shipping labels to make sure the return is imported back to us in the correct manner, and will inform you of the cost of the return. Please note, once an order has been shipped out and sent returned, we only refund the item’s value and not the shipping cost.

What if you need a Replacement or Repair?

If we agree that the boots are faulty, we will repair or replace them free of charge, or give you a price reduction/full refund. As a general rule, you will only be able to ask for a partial or full refund when it’s not possible to repair or replace the goods. You must inform us within 2 months of discovering a fault.

My order is delayed can I cancel my order?

If you don’t receive in 30 days or in agreed period, you must get in touch with us first, giving an additional, reasonable time limit to deliver. If we don’t deliver within the extended deadline, you are entitled to end the contract and be reimbursed as soon as possible.

These Button Boots are faithful reproductions of originals from the 1890's.

The Spat Boot became an essential item for the fashionable Man of the Victorian & Edwardian era, a style that continued until the 1930's.

The lower part of the boot is made of beautiful polished leather, while the upper spat section is supple suede. Choose between the different colour variations available.

The elegant chiselled toe last is narrow enough to be in keeping with the historical shoe, while being adapted to modern sizing and comfort.

The fit is true to size, but if you have a wide foot, going up half to a full size could be a good option. When in doubt about width and sizing, please message me.

The skill of our excellent makers and the softness of the leather make these boots look from another time but with modern comfort. Constructed with Goodyear welt, the leather soles are sewn together with a cork insulation inside. All our boots are soled with a thin anti-slip rubber membrane to protect the leather sole.

The Goodyear Welt sole can be endlessly replaced, making these boots a very good investment.

Please note these boots all come with the black domed buttons. Traditionally a button hook was used to do these boots up, but we find the combination of the hole size and dome shape makes them easy to do up without one! You might need a little patience as you get used to doing them up!

These boots are handmade in Portugal, in a small family run factory. They are made to order just for you!

No plastic involved, they are sustainable and should last a really long time. The leather will age beautifully.

With good care, these boots could last a lifetime.
