A reading pillow has many uses due to its versatile front pocket. It is a great way for kids or readers to snuggle up with their favorite book. A reading pillow is sometimes called a pocket pillow and my kids have made use of it especially for taking other items on trips as it has an easy-to-use handle and a nice pocket to carry reading books, coloring books, pens, markers, small stuffed animals and much more.

In creating this reading pillow PDF I found that many reading pillows are way too complicated for the beginner learning to sew. So I created this easy-to-follow sewing tutorial for a reading pillow aka the pocket pillow. There is no special sewing technics that make this project an easy first sew or a fun sew for an expert.

Due to the functional design of the reading pillow having an envelope-style closure, should their be a mess or spill on it. Simply take the cover off and wash it. For our reading pillow, we use an 18"x18" pillow form.
