These rare Mexican scalloped tomatos are drought tolerant and are found in the dry mountains of Mexico. The origins dating back to the Zapotec Natives of Oaxaca, Mexico. These tomato seeds will grow into tomato's that get up to 4 inches in diameter and weighing up to 1 lbs! They thrive in dry heat and have a very sweet taste! (Lycopersicon esculentum.)

The Zapotec's ruffled and ribbed shape makes for great scalloped slices; It is very pretty for food presentation, and it's terrific hollowed and stuffed. Gorgeous and plentiful, this is a dream tomato!

🌱How to grow zapotec ribbed rare mexican tomato tomato vegetable seeds:
-Start planting your heirloom seeds in a well drained container indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected spring frost date in your State / Area/ Location.
-Using a chop stick or pencil, make shallow rows in a container with moist soil about 1/4 inch deep and 1/2 inch apart.
-Drop 1-2 vegetable seeds 1/2 inch apart in the rows and cover with dry soil. Lightly water your seedlings once again.
-keep this container in front of a sunny- preferably south facing - window
- keep your house or green house temperatures around 72°-80° for best results
-Keep soil constantly moist with adequate drainage - DO NOT ALLOW YOUR SEEDLINGS TO DRY OUT until they have germinated. Gently water these vegetable seeds once a day after starting the germination process.
-Transplant each tomato seedling into its own 3-4 inch in diameter container when you see 2-3 leaves and your baby tomato plants about 2-3 inches tall. Make sure you plant them deep enough so the soil reaches the base of the leaves, more roots will emerge from the stem before outdoor planting creating a stronger root base for your tomato seeds & plants.
-When 8 weeks have passed, make sure the weather at night is roughly 55° to get ready for outdoor planting. Gradually acclimate your plants for a couple hours a day in the sunlight for about a week to avoid transplant shock.
