PRACTICAL AND STYLISH
This bed maximizes under-bed storage space while revealing a little personality in the turned legs. The support platform on our Libby bed is flush with the top of the frame, so your mattress rests entirely on top of the bed (including the legs.) This allows the bed to have a smaller footprint which is the same as your mattress size. Strong and sturdy, this bed is simple enough to work well in any bedroom. The bed pieces are finely sanded and the rail edges are rounded over to make them feel nice and smooth. We make each bed to order from solid American hardwoods with a simple linseed oil finish.
SOLID WHITE OAK
White oak is a hard and heavy, and very smooth wood with medium brown to olive tone and long brown flecks or rays. The color you see is not a stain, but the actual color of this natural hardwood. Because wood is a natural product, beauty marks are normal, and may include knots, knot holes, worm holes, large streaks or sections of light sapwood and/or variations in grain and color. These variations are what make each piece unique. Order wood samples or see more examples of our woods here: www.etsy.com/listing/240464818/
OUR BEDS
Our bed frames are handcrafted from solid American hardwoods. Thoughtfully designed and constructed to last for generations, our beds are finished simply with a hand-rubbed clear coat of linseed oil to reveal the natural beauty of the wood grain. When you buy our beds, you can rest assured that you're not bringing questionable wood or dangerous chemicals into your home, because our wood is solid, new, furniture-grade lumber, our glue is low-VOC and our finish is 0% VOC. Many of our customers have chemical sensitivities, and many people purchase our bed frames for use with organic mattresses. With everything we build, we think about safety, ease of use, practicality and durability of our pieces for generations of use.

MATTRESS SUPPORT
Our slats are untreated kiln-dried poplar hardwoods, 1.125" thick x 5.5" wide
We drill holes in the ends of our slats and include screws so you can screw them down if you wish (helps to alleviate potential noise.)
Standard slat spacing:
Twin & Full: 8 slats 2.85” apart
Queen, King & TwinXL: 8 slats 3.5" apart
Cal King: 9 slats 2.9" apart
Center support & leg are included on all King and California King size beds.
This bed is meant for just a mattress.
A lower priced support option, which is equally strong, is for you to purchase untreated pine 2 x 6 slats from your local hardware store. They can be purchased and cut to size for $50 - $150. Should you choose to get them locally, we will tell you exactly what you need to get when you place your order, or feel free to request that info before you buy.
CUSTOMIZATION
This bed is available in other woods and can be made with a headboard - see our other listings. We can add a center support, set the slats closer together, or set it up for a solid surface such as a bunkie board - just send us a message to ask about pricing. Customization on the hardwood portion of the bed takes a little longer and the price is significantly higher than our beds with straight or tapered legs, since the legs must be turned just for you. We cannot sink the mattress depth into this frame because of the size of the legs. If you are worried about the mattress moving around on the frame, we have reached out to previous customers using this bed who have said this is not an issue, but you could certainly use a non-slip rug mat between slats and mattress.
ASSEMBLY
Our handmade hardwood beds are designed for easy home assembly. You will use a bit of glue, some dominoes, screws and a screwdriver, all of which are provided along with well-written instructions. Don't let that scare you, if you want to see instructions before you order, just ask. Once you have the legs attached to the head and foot rails, the bed is easily put together (and taken apart, should you move) with interlocking metal bed hardware. The slats are placed across the bed to create your platform, with a center support beam and leg running from head to foot on the King and California King.
