14K gold filled is a higher quality version of gold plated jewelry. Instead of a very thin electroplating of gold, there is a very thick mechanically applied layer of gold to the brass metal core. By law, the amount of gold is a mininum of 5% of the weight, so this results in a very thick layer that doesn't wear away over time. 14K gold filled jewelry was common in the early 1900's, and as a vintage jewelry dealer, I have many of these pieces in my collection that still look just as beautiful today as they were 100 years ago. This is heirloom quality jewelry, that will last, yet is more affordable than solid gold.

Yes, I do not use any electroplated metals in my designs, only 925 sterling silver, 14K gold fill (which is a thick mechanically applied layer of gold over a base core), and solid 14K gold.

General- All of my jewelry is wearable in water, however it is good practice to rinse it after wearing in salt water or chlorinated water to remove the damaging salts. Also it is best to remove jewelry when putting on sprayable hair care products to avoid residue buildup.

Sterling Silver- It will need routine polishing with a jewelry cloth. It naturally oxidizes (darkens) over time due to exposure with the air, water, or salt, and polishing restores its bright sheen. I only polish my routinely worn silver jewelry every 6 months or so. Due to variations in skin chemistry, some wearers may find their sterling darkens more quickly and they will need to polish more often.

Yes, I offer free repairs for all my jewelry items for up to 1 year after purchase. Thereafter, I offer low cost repairs at only the base cost of the materials needed. Contact me to discuss the details.

The necklaces lengths offered vary based on the style of the necklace. I can make most of my necklaces in an alternative length. Please contact me to inquire about a specific necklace. Also, there may be the option to add an extension chain so that the necklace will adjust by several inches. There will be an upcharge when adding extension chains or making longer necklaces in order to cover the base cost of extra materials.

Bracelets are typically made with an extender chain so that they adjust from 6.5" to 7.75" long. This range will accomodate most wrists in sizes generally considered to be small, medium, or large. I am willing to make any of my bracelets in shorter or longer lengths, so please do contact me to inquire.

French Hooks- Most of my earrings are made with a simple wire hooks.

Posts- Switching to a simple post with sphere design doesn't require an upcharge.

Leverbacks- Switching to leverbacks gives earrings a more elegant, formal look. They are more expensive that simple hooks and so will require a small upcharge in price.

Clip-ons- Switching to clip-ons is wonderful for those that can't pierce their ears. I have simple, elegant, high-quality clip-ons that I import from Europe. They are rather pricey so will require a moderate upcharge in price.

Yes, every gemstone I use is a genuine, earth-mined stone. The stones I select have been entirely untreated with the exception of a few stones that are only available with treatments (such as turquoise which may require stabilization due to its innate softness, etc). All of my stones are naturally colored as well. I source my stones from suppliers that I trust and have used for years, so I am confident in their authenticity.

Yes, all of my jewelry is made with hypoallergenic, lead and nickel free metals. This includes all jewelry made with sterling silver, 14K gold filled, or 14K solid gold metals.
