I sketch and paint at home most of the time. Quite often, I do en plein air or on-site sketching & painting within Singapore in parks and touristy places of interest with nice sceneries or interesting subjects.

I enjoy cycling, and sometimes sketch and paint at places where my bicycle takes me. Often, these places might be too far to walk to and are further away from car parks or from public transport.

During my long working career I travelled widely and often. As an avid photography hobbyist, I took 1000’s of photos as a result. I do select some nice photos to sketch & paint. As a member of several virtual sketch groups since Covid-19 pandemic sets in, I sketch and paint from photos provided by the admins of these groups too. I look forward to painting abroad when the pandemic travel restrictions ease further.

The basis is on the time I spent to complete the artwork, its size and complexity, whether it is detailed or simple. I set the price by using a modest hourly-rate for myself and add a little more for art supplies costs. Finally, I add on the price of the frame, if framed, often at cost plus a small service fee.

For prints, I base on a percentage of an original artwork price.

I minimise the delivery cost to the buyer by using the local post or by personal delivery for delivery within Singapore, and by using registered airmail for delivery outside of Singapore. Courier services are expensive, I avoid such to help the buyer save more.

I am neither a professional artist nor have I been formally trained in an art school; I am a hobbyist in watercolour sketching and painting; in flex-nib pen calligraphy and lettering; in photography and also in cycling.

I am retired and in my professional working life before that, I was working in my national airline group's engineering wings for 46 years.

But, calligraphy and painting have always been my interest and I learn and develop myself in the hobby over the years; all self-taught with continuous learning and improvement.

I was encouraged by family and friends to do more in retirement which I have been doing, and extended my hobby with an opening of my Etsy shop to make my artwork available to supporters and appreciators.
