Cuttings are ready to plant when they get to you, provided your area has the proper temperature requirements. If not, they can easily stay unplanted in cutting form for several weeks as long as they have direct sunlight.

Quick shipping (may be weather-dependent in your area), and ready to plant in a dry, Sunny spot in your yard! These can get quite large (Pachycereus Schottii Monstrosus ‘Totem Pole Cactus’) but are slow growing. The third picture was from a cutting of hers about 1.5 years ago. PLANT TWO OR MORE TOGETHER and they will fuse to create a bigger plant!

Totem Pole cacti are a unique species. They are spineless which means no pesky prickers!! They are so striking yet so low-maintenance as long as the prior growing conditions are adhered to. The only thing you should worry about is the planting location. Once they have happily settled in, they will be there for decades.

They are SUN-LOVING desert cacti that need bright and direct sunlight all day. When growing Totem Pole cacti indoors, find a location where they can receive PLENTY of light, such as a south-facing window or any other bright place from your house, or use a grow light. Partial sunlight will NOT be enough. Outdoors, you can plant your cacti in a sunny spot to provide them with direct sunlight daily. They will grow better than other cacti or succulents in harsh conditions, but will not withstand prolonged periods of frost, or too much water. They also need a well drained, rocky soil.
