Do you accept returns?

Because our pieces are vintage, fragile, and often curated specifically for each order, we do not accept returns. We take great care to provide clear descriptions, sample photos, and helpful information before purchase so customers understand what to expect. Many orders are created for special events, styled tables, plate walls, weddings, showers, and other occasions, so we are not able to offer returns after pieces have been purchased or used for an event. That said, we always want our customers to feel cared for. If there is ever an issue with your order, please reach out so we can review it case by case. Exchanges may be accepted on a case-by-case basis when possible. If something arrives damaged, we will work with you to make it right

Will I receive the exact same items shown in the photos?

For our mismatched vintage china sets, not usually. The photos in our listings are examples of the style, colors, quality, and overall look you can expect. Because we work with vintage pieces, our inventory changes constantly and we rarely have large quantities of the exact same pattern. Your order will be thoughtfully curated from the beautiful vintage pieces we have available at the time of purchase. This is part of what makes our mismatched sets special. Each order is unique, and no two curated sets are exactly the same.

Can I choose specific patterns?

No, because our inventory changes daily. Each mismatched set is curated from the vintage pieces we have available at the time your order is prepared, so the exact plates, bowls, cups, saucers, or other pieces will be selected by us. We curate each set with attention to color, pattern, balance, and overall feel. You are welcome to share general color preferences, and we will always take them into consideration. While we can’t guarantee specific colors, patterns, makers, or pieces, we will pull from your preferences first whenever we have those options in stock.

Can I request photos of the items you will be sending in my order?

For mismatched sets, we are not able to photograph and send previews of the exact pieces before shipping. Because we curate and ship many vintage orders, this allows us to keep the process organized and efficient while still giving each order thoughtful attention. The listing photos are meant to show the general style and quality of the pieces we send, but the exact mix will be a surprise. If you enjoy the charm of vintage china and are open to a beautiful, curated assortment, our mismatched sets are a lovely option.

Are vintage dishes safe for everyday use?

Many vintage dishes can be enjoyed for everyday meals, special gatherings, or display, but they do require a little extra care. We do not recommend using vintage china in the microwave or dishwasher. Many pieces have delicate details, gold trim, older glazes, or hand-painted elements that can be damaged by modern appliances. For best care, we recommend hand washing and avoiding sudden temperature changes. Vintage china can continue to be enjoyed for many years to come.

Do you offer wholesale?

At this time we do not offer wholesale specifically but for those wanting to purchase large quantities (anything over 40 pieces per dish type) we do offer volume pricing. If this is something you are interested in, please send us a message letting us know what you would like and we will create a custom quote for you. We often curate large sets for weddings, special events and oversized plate wall installations. We love working on larger projects so if that is something you require don't hesitate to reach out, we are happy to help.

Are your dishes truly vintage?

Yes. This is what sets us apart from other "vintage inspired" sellers here on Etsy. The Delicate Dish specializes in authentic vintage china, porcelain, fine china, and bone china. Our pieces are sourced secondhand from estate sales, auctions, private collections, and other vintage sources. Many are decades old, and some may be much older. We choose pieces for their beauty, quality, charm, and ability to mix well with other vintage dishes. Because these are vintage items, they may have small signs of age or previous use, such as light utensil marks, minor wear to gold trim, tiny imperfections, or other character that comes with older pieces. These are part of the vintage charm.

Do you lead test your vintage dishes?

We do not lead test our china. We are thoughtful about what we source, and lead concerns are more commonly associated with certain antique, hand-painted, imported, heavily glazed, or brightly colored pieces, especially those with strong red, orange, or yellow tones. Those are not the types of pieces we source for our curated sets. However, because our inventory includes vintage china from many makers, ages, and countries, we cannot guarantee that any vintage dish is lead-free. In all our years of sourcing and selling vintage china, we have never been made aware of a lead-related issue with the pieces we have sold. If this is a concern, inexpensive lead test kits can be found online, including on Amazon.

Choose the types of pieces you’d like, such as plates, bowls, teacups, serving dishes, or a mix of items. From there, we carefully curate a coordinated assortment just for you using classic vintage floral patterns that complement one another while still giving you that charming mismatched look.

Turnaround time depends on the size of the order. Smaller orders typically ship fairly quickly. Larger bulk orders (100+ pieces) take a bit longer because we gather pieces over time to create a wider and more varied assortment rather than sending large quantities of duplicates.

Light signs of age may be present and are part of the charm.
