Vintage Indigo Rag Rug: Handwoven Sakiori Blanket, Miao Textile

- Vintage rag rug / rag blanket handwoven by Miao minority living in SW China. Excellent weaving, thick and heavy. Very hard to find. At least 80-90 years old. Traditionally, rag rugs were made using old clothing that had become so worn they were no longer repairable. This was a beautiful way to repurpose old fabric. Fabrics were cut into strips and woven into rugs or blankets.⁠
- The blanket is composed of 3 panels. Price per panel.
- Size per panel: 38cm x 155cm / 15 inches x 1.7 yards
- Weight per panel: 600 g
- Thick and heavy. In good condition. Sold as found. One stain on the back and it’s not obvious in the front since the fabric is quite dark. One small hole in the middle panel near the hem.
- This piece used to be quilt cover. It is so versitile that can be used directly as rugs / blankets / tablecloths / bedcover or can be turned into cushion / bags etc...

Given its age and artisanal process, the fabric has its unique charms. It is not for everyone. If you appreciate vintage, handmade, one-of-a-kind, then my shop maybe a lovely choice for you
